working planes...

Been putting in plenty of time at the airport these days with my night job at Delta Airlines. Still getting back into the swing of things. I will be heading back out to the De-ice crew again soon. This year I am gonna make it through the whole season though. It is nice to align the seasons a little by moving out to De-ice. I am a weather watching maniac come about October or so anyways. De-ice work is pretty well aligned with all of that as well. Trying to find beauty in everything still, and here are some of the views from my airport life.

^Sunset on the B-gates offers a pretty nice view of the city, and the Wasatch Range. A little Skywest Brazalia propellor plane cruises past as we wait for our jet to arrive.

^On the other side you get a whole different look. The sun sets on a CRJ regional jet. The views are much better from here then from inside the bin.

^As night sets in the whole scene changes a bit. With the way that a jet reflects light the whole place lights up differently. Keeps things interesting. I spend a lot of hours out there so keeping it interesting is a challenge all on its own. With the move to De-ice I will be going back into a more freshman type of role with plenty of learning situations. It is good for me. More hours, but more money as well. Also, it still interferes little with skiing every day. Love it. I will be busy again, as usual, but that is good for me also.

Just One Sunrise

Vertical Integration just put this short edit up on their website of my good friends Zach Houston and Justin Allen getting some nice surfing. The music is good, the surfing is good, and the scenery is great.  Gotta love the beach. As much as I live for the snow. I do love the beach. I am not a great surfer, but I certainly enjoy it. The lifestyle is similar to my own, and surfers and I seem to see eye to eye on a lot of things.  Anyway, great vid and entertaining. Winter is not here just yet, so enjoy the last days of summer.

Here is a list of some full length surf movies that you can buy to feed the need some more. Just click on them and take one home. I have seen a couple of these and I can tell you that they are sweet.

bouldering for a change...

Christine, Murphy, and I took an opportunity to get up to a boulder field in Ogden just above 29th Street on the eastern bench. Hidden Rock is one of my favorite boulders, and we found it unoccupied.  As usual, I had to work the night shift at Delta Airlines, so we did a morning session on a Sunday morning. It was a great time. How can you not have fun with two girls like these.

^Murphy is doing the spotting for Christine while I snap off a photo. Good work Murphy.

^Christine is just barely stepping over the top of the problem that she just nailed. Christine is learning the ins and outs of climbing right now. I am not a huge climber myself, but I know a little, and bouldering is awesome cross training for us.  Wait till you see her in a wedding dress with a ripped back, and a pair of smoking guns for arms. Maybe I am crazy, but thats hot. Sorry.

^Murphy is still a bit unsure as to what she is supposed to do when someone tops out. It is pretty funny to watch her try to figure it out.

^Fortunately for Murphy, Hidden Rock has a section on the back side that she can climb too. It is tough work for her, but she makes it. Here she is enjoying the sense of accomplishment with Christine.

^I think that Murphy is scouting a tougher problem for next time. She is pretty stout, but maybe not that much so.  She will probably try though.  An all around good day with my two best girls. I love mixing some bouldering into the training regimen, because it is a different kind of workout. Climbing works a whole separate skill set from mountain biking and trail running. Fantastic core work, which is right up my alley. Stronger...Better...Everyday.

a must read...

If you have never read this book then I suggest that you click it here, and buy it right now. I finished it a while back, and have since given it to Christine and my father. Now, I will be having my dad send it along to another friend of mine. It is a real eye opener, and can help you start to read between the news. I am a big fan of the author John Perkins, and I have started reading a bunch of his books. He has a unique perspective. He also writes about shamans and the power of meditation. Very powerful stuff.
